Asim Ijaz Khwaja is Director of the Center for International Development at Harvard University, the Sumitomo-Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development Professor of International Finance and Development at the Harvard Kennedy School, and co-founder of the Center for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP). Mehmet Bulut is the Rector of İstanbul Sabahattin Zaim University as well as a Professor of Economics and Economic History. He received his PhD from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands in 2000, and MA from Posthumus Institute (1998) in the field of Economic History. Swami Bodhatmananda was the Acharya of the course. Shashiji took early retirement from her position as the Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Lowell General Hospital, MA, in order to continue uninterrupted service to the Mission. She was awarded the “Life Achievement Award” in 2017 by India New England news. Presently she holds regular satsangs, meditation sessions and other classes.

Dr. Marium HusainBoard Member, Islamic Medical Assocaition of North America

Dr. Marium Husain, MD, MPH is a medical oncologist at The Ohio State University James Comprehensive Cancer Center. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed a residency in Internal Medicine. Marium has been working on community service projects in the Columbus area and abroad for the past 14 years. As the President of the national non-profit, IMANA (Islamic Medical Association of North America), she has been working on public health education and creating domestic campaigns for food insecurity, reproductive health and climate change. As part of IMANA Medical Relief, Marium has traveled to Haiti and Puerto Rico. She has volunteered with the WHO working on nutrition-related projects and with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) on vaccine pricing. She organizes town halls to raise awareness of racism and Islamophobia, volunteers with the Women of APPNA to help raise awareness of basic women’s health rights and professional development, and serves as the treasurer of the Interfaith Public Health Network (IPHN) which convenes faith groups to advocate for public health issues. Faith is her driving force, and she has seen the profound impact of integrating science and faith in her own life."

Marium has been working on community service projects in the Columbus area and abroad for the past 14 years. As the President of the national non-profit, IMANA (Islamic Medical Association of North America), she has been working on public health education and creating domestic campaigns for food insecurity, reproductive health and climate change. As part of IMANA Medical Relief, Marium has traveled to Haiti and Puerto Rico. She has volunteered with the WHO working on nutrition-related projects and with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) on vaccine pricing. She organizes town halls to raise awareness of racism and Islamophobia, volunteers with the Women of APPNA to help raise awareness of basic women’s health rights and professional development, and serves as the treasurer of the Interfaith Public Health Network (IPHN) which convenes faith groups to advocate for public health issues. Fatema Z. Sumar is the Executive Director of the Center for International Development at Harvard University. She has a distinguished career as a practitioner in the US government and civil society. Fatema most recently served as a presidential appointee as the Vice President of Compact Operations at the US Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). In this role, she oversaw the agency’s compacts to reduce poverty through economic growth globally. She managed MCC’s technical and regional divisions working on infrastructure, the environment and climate change, the private sector, gender and social inclusion, human and community development, land and agriculture, procurement, financial management, strategic partnerships, and contracts and grant management. She was previously MCC’s Deputy Vice President for Europe, Asia, the Pacific, and Latin America. Fatema also served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia at the US Department of State where she led efforts to expand regional economic and energy connectivity and as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF). In the US Congress, she worked for three Senators including as a Senior Professional Staff Member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee focused on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the broader region. In civil society, Fatema was the Vice President of Global Programs at Oxfam America where she oversaw regional development and humanitarian response to fight the injustice of poverty. Early in her career, she also worked at the American Civil Liberties Union.
